Sticky Oat Matcha Protein Balls recipe

  • Organic Rolled Oats: Rolled oats are great for adding texture and you can go gluten-free if you require
  • Vanilla protein powder: I use Form Superblend Protein Vanilla but you can use your standard protein powder based
  • Smooth cashew and coconut butter: We are absolutely obsessed with the source bulk foods - Grab 'N' Go Coconut Cashew Butter 300ml - It’s rich and creamy and the perfect blend for these matcha protein balls. (If you do not have cashew and coconut butter) You can substitute for tahini for a nut free option.
  • Maple syrup: for sweetness. You can also use agave syrup.
  • Plant-based milk: add 2-4 tbsp as needed to make a fudgy, sticky mix. You can use any dairy-free milk like oat, almond, soya or coconut. We like to use Organic coconut and almond milk.
  • Desiccated Coconut: To add an extra texture, finish off the protein balls rolled in  Planet Organic Dessicated Coconut
  • White Chocolate Drizzle: (Optional) Finishing off with a white chocolate drizzle, you can use any white chocolate, but our go-to choice for white chocolate is Montezuma's Creamy White Giant Buttons

How to make sticky oat match protein balls

These sticky matcha protein balls come together in a few steps:

  • Stir together dry ingredients: Organic Matcha Powder, Rolled Oats and Vanilla Protein Powder
  • Add in the wet ingredients: Cashew and Coconut Butter, Maple Syrup and Plant-Based Milk
  • Mix dry and wet ingredients: until sticky and place into the fridge for 20-30 minutes
  • Roll your protein balls: grab your mixture, start forming your protein ball when you have your desired shape.
  • Pour your desiccated coconut: onto a plate and roll the protein balls in the desiccated coconut
  • Melt White Chocolate: grab a teaspoon, and finish off with a drizzle over the top (optional)

Ingredients

For Matcha Protein Balls

  • 150g rolled oats
  • 50g vanilla protein powder
  • 2.5 tbsp matcha powder
  • 60g cashew and coconut butter or tahini
  • 60ml maple syrup
  • 3-4 tbsp plant-based milk

For the Topping:

  • 60g Desiccated Coconut
  • 100g dairy-free white chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the oats, protein and organic matcha powder. Pour in the cashew butter/tahini, syrup, 2 tbsp plant-based milk.
  2. Stir to a thick and even mixture, adding 1-2 tbsp more plant-based milk, if needed.
  3. Set in the fridge, once combined, cover and set the mixing bowl into the fridge for 20-30 minutes
  4. Roll protein balls, using a tsp, add 2 tsp of mixture into the palm of your hands and roll into a ball shape
  5. Roll onto Desiccated Coconut, pour your desiccated coconut onto a plate and roll your protein balls around, making sure to cover them to your own desire (we say the more coconut the better, but not everyone loves coconut)
  6. Optional White Chocolate Drizzle, to a heatproof bowl warm in the microwave or over a pan of simmering water until melted and glossy. Once melted grab a tsp and drizzle to your own desire!
  7. Enjoy straight away or keep in the fridge in a sealed container for 1 week or in the freezer for 1 month (allow to defrost before eating).
