One day, in my early 30s, I was heading to my dentist appointment to do four cavities and replace four childhood fillings. Now as an adult, it was sad to see little parts of my teeth being removed and replaced with synthetic composite materials. I asked myself if this was just a normal part of life since it seemed like everyone goes through it at some point. It felt like surgery, like losing a part of myself. Was this really something we had to accept?

I wanted to put an end to my dental decay.

So I started reading books that addressed my situation, one that billions of others on this planet also experienced. Eventually, I stumbled upon the answer I had been searching for. Dental decay and cavities weren't just a matter of bad luck or an inevitable part of life; they were symptoms of our disconnection from nature, particularly the very nature we rely on for sustenance: our food.

The answer was simple but profound.

I discovered what had been studied by numerous dentists. The closer our lifestyle and diet align with nature, the stronger our teeth become. Stronger teeth meant better oral health. From that point on, I started looking at oral care products in an entirely different light. All those claims, complex synthetic ingredients, and excessive packaging suddenly seemed questionable. Despite using conventional products, many of us still have to go and see the dentist for decay-related procedures.

I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I cleared out my bathroom of all the highly fluoridated toothpaste and antibacterial mouthwash and began experimenting with completely natural ingredients like English Clay, Calcium Carbonate, and Sodium Bicarbonate. I mixed these ingredients in small batches to create a replacement for conventional toothpaste. It felt liberating, and the results were even more effective.

Over time, I refined these formulas by adding delightful essential oils, eventually creating a range of products that my friends and I loved. My journey began at London Farmers Markets, where I consistently sold out of my homemade toothpaste. It was during those moments that I realized my mission was to share this truth with others. So, I established a brand, initially named Georganics (short for Good Earth Organics). While the business faced challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic when many of our stockists had to close their doors for months, today, that same mission continues under the name Zerolla (returning to our roots: zero-toxic, zero-packaging, zero-fakery).
