London is a city buzzing with events all year round, and now that spring has sprung, you’ll be seeing an influx in outdoor, sustainability events this April. Check out our list of some of the coolest looking sustainable events to look forward to in and around London this month!
1. Spring Foraging Nature Retreat with Wild Ivy
Just an hour outside of the hustle and bustle of the city, you can get in touch with yourself and with nature and all its gifts at this full day retreat focused on spring foraging and mindfulness.
The cost of registration includes the full day of activities as well as the plant based Buddha bowl and materials needed to make the dream catcher.
2. Natural and Organic Products Fair
This is Europe’s biggest trade show for natural and organic products and this year it’s in London. It will have hundreds of exhibitors with products ranging from organic and sustainable period products to organic barbecue sauce. A must-do this month if you are interested in all things sustainability!
3. London Clothes Swap
One of many clothes swaps all over London this month, the London Clothes Swap event aims to cut down on the purchase of new clothing items, especially those from fast fashion. You can bring your clean, gently used clothes to drop off locations beforehand, or bring a maximum of 5 clothing items the day of the event. You can also bring clothes with you that you’d like to repair or revamp to continue using. There will be a token system in place according to how many clothing items you bring with you. The perfect replacement for a day spent shopping the brands downtown!
4. Sustainable Shopping on a Budget
Many of us want to be more sustainable but many times we see it as an added cost. This event aims to educate on how you can make your journey in sustainability more attainable and cost effective. Workshops and talks range from simple swaps to DIY classes. The best part? It’s completely free!
5. Zero Waste Vegan Meal Event
This incredible initiative will use food donated from OddBox and The ZERO Restaurants Network that would have otherwise gone to waste. The Canvas Cafe will prepare a 3 course vegan meal using these ingredients and the proceeds will all go to fund AlterEd–which is a new free business school for vulnerable women. Learn about food waste, enjoy an incredible meal, and help a great cause in the process. Win, win, win!
6. People, Planet, Pint
A monthly meetup that began in Glasgow during the COP26 and hopes to be a monthly addition to the London sustainability scene. A great place for business owners and professionals in the net zero, Bcorp, and environmental space to network and chat about the latest and greatest in the sector–all over a couple of pints!
7. Portobello Vegan Night Market
Winner of @vegfestuk’s best vegan market, the Portobello Vegan Market holds a special night event this April 13th. With over 20 vendors bringing you the best in vegan street food and the local vegan DJ throwing out funky beats–you’re not going to want to miss this sustainable event.
8. The Horniman Garden Spring Fair
The perfect way to spend a Saturday celebrating spring, nature, and all things Easter with friends or the whole family. The event will have a spring bonnet parade with prizes given to those using the most recycled materials, vegetarian cooking demonstrations, sustainable arts and crafts and food stalls, garden tours, and loads of stands from community partners of the event. The icing on the cake? The whole event is decorated by handmade bunting made with recyclable materials from local primary schools. This event is an absolute must!
9. Nurturing Day
Celebrate Earth Day this year by feeling truly connected to mother Earth. This event welcomes you to get in touch with yourself and the healing properties of your environment in order to strengthen our connection to the earth. Activities range from a mindful nature walk, to workshops on soil to soul, garden to plate, and a visual art workshop to help you think differently about the world around you. Ticket price includes a vegan lunch with seasonal crops on sight.
10. Vegan Runners Social Run
The Vegan Runners group holds regular social runs all over the UK, and has weekly runs in London every Wednesday evening. There is an option to do a 5k, 7.5k, or 10k run, and it is a great place to meet others interested in veganism and how to use it to your advantage in your exercise routine.
